Lamkin, Ford to receive honorary degrees

Indiana State University will recognize the departing president of Ivy Tech Community College and a nursing pioneer with honorary degrees during spring commencement May 5.

1,877 Students eligible for degrees as Class of 2007

More than 1,850 students are candidates for degrees this spring at Indiana State University, compared with nearly 1,800 last year. ISU's 136th spring commencement ceremonies are scheduled for 2 p.m. May 5 in Hulman Center.

Awards presented at Research Showcase

Thirteen ISU students were recognized with awards for their research during the 2007 Undergraduate and Graduate Research Showcase, sponsored by the School of Graduate Studies.

Carmen Tillery named dean of students

Trustees endorse program prioritization, Distinctive Programs

Indiana State University's Board of Trustees Friday endorsed separate plans to provide increased funding and recognition for the university's most distinctive and promising programs while also eliminating or consolidating up to 64 low-enrollment programs

Low-enrollment programs to be eliminated

Following an exhaustive study of its curriculum, Indiana State University plans to reduce its academic offerings from 214 to between 150 and 160 by elimianting, revising and merging low-demand programs. In a related initiative, a new President's Fund for Academic Excellence will provide $1.75 million over three years to support programs selected for additional investments as part of a Distinctive Programs Initiative

Indiana State University will invest $1.75 million over the next three years in selected academic programs as part of its Distinctive Programs Initiative, President Lloyd W. Benjamin III announced. The President's Fund for Academic Excellence will strengthen programs with national or regional reputations for quality (Programs of Distinction) and build programs that have the potential to achieve that status (Programs of Promise).

ISU dedicates pool in honor of Coach Paul Selge

Indiana State University will dedicate the pool in the Health and Human Performance Building in honor of Coach Paul Selge, associate professor emeritus. Recently, more than 100 former athletes and friends of Coach Selge honored him by creating the Paul Selge Endowed Scholarship for a student in physical education.
