This appointment follows a highly engaged national search process that drew exceptional interest and participation from across the Indiana State University community. Faculty, staff, and students contributed meaningfully through open presentations, conversations, and shared governance processes, reflecting a deep and collective investment in shaping the University’s academic future. The strength of that engagement underscores the significance of this moment and the shared confidence in the path ahead.

Dr. Schroeder brings more than twenty years of distinguished experience as a scholar, educator, and transformative academic leader. Most recently serving as dean of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences and interim dean of the Jack N. Averitt College of Graduate Studies at Georgia Southern University, he has led with a clear focus on measurable outcomes and lasting institutional impact. Under his leadership, his college experienced substantial growth in enrollment, expanded graduate education, improved retention and graduation outcomes, and significantly increased external funding and philanthropic support in service of students and faculty.

Throughout his career, Dr. Schroeder has demonstrated a consistent ability to align academic innovation with student success, strengthen faculty engagement, and build partnerships that extend the reach and relevance of the university. His leadership reflects both strategic clarity and a deep understanding of the evolving role of higher education in preparing students for a dynamic and complex world.
