The Beta Upsilon chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha at Indiana State University received a Four Star Award at sorority\'s national convention recently in San Antonio, Tex.
\"This award is a great accomplishment for Alpha Sigma Alpha, and is testament to their hard work this year,\" said Tracy Machtan, assistant director of fraternity and sorority life. \"We are proud of them for grounding all they do in their organizational values, and for so positively representing the sorority community at Indiana State University.\"
Indiana State was one of only 14 schools to be recognized with this achievement. There are more than 145 active chapters of Alpha Sigma Alpha nationwide. The award is based on chapter operations, communication, scholarship, public relations, ritual, philanthropy, recruitment, financials and new member education.
\"Being a four star chapter is one of the highest accomplishments recognized by our national headquarters,\" Alpha Sigma Alpha Beta Upsilon president Swapna Namburi said. \"I am so proud of all of our members for accomplishing such a phenomenal award.\"
