High-achieving students selected as University Honors Scholars will receive an annual award of $5,000.

Nearly 40 ISU students are serving as research fellows during the sixth annual Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences program.

The conference will take place Sept. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Hulman Memorial Student Union, DEDE III.

Susan Moncada, a professor of accounting, is one of two award recipients for "Processing Integrity Challenge," a PowerPoint game similar to Jeopardy that Moncada plays with students in her accounting systems class as an alternative to lecturing.

A new sculpture will serve as the focal point of an outdoor plaza outside the ISU Foundation office at Fifth and Cherry streets. Artist Tim Upham has incorporated an iconic university symbol into the sculpture's design.

Sandeep Gopalan, head of the department of law at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, is a visiting scholar in the Scott College of Business at ISU. His visit was sponsored by the college's Networks Financial Institute.

Three open houses are scheduled in the Metropolis Meeting Room from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 3, Aug. 4 and Aug. 8, along with an additional open house at Westside Garden Plaza from to 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 9.

Some ISU students learned on summer trips to Paris and Ireland, during which they learned about international business relations with European nations.

Some major streets serving downtown Terre Haute and the Indiana State University campus will be closed Monday for the funeral of city police Officer Brent Long.

Charlynn Turner, who graduated from Indiana State in May with a Master's of Public Administration degree, has landed a James H. Dunn Memorial Fellowship to work in the Illinois governor's office.
