Members of C.H.I.L.L. (Colleagues Helping Implement Lifelong Learning), a student organization within the Bayh College of Education at Indiana State University, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in a national conference focused on strengthening student-university partnerships.

The conference was hosted by the National Association for School-University Partnerships, an organization dedicated to advancing the education profession through leadership, advocacy, and support of collaborative partnerships between schools and universities. These partnerships, including Professional Development Schools, serve as dynamic learning communities that enhance student achievement, prepare educators through clinical practice, promote reciprocal professional learning, and engage in shared inquiry.

C.H.I.L.L. members presented five concurrent sessions during the conference. Their presentations highlighted innovative ideas and best practices in educator preparation and school-university collaboration. The opportunity to present on a national stage not only showcased the strength of Indiana State’s teacher preparation programs but also positioned students as emerging leaders in the field of education.

In addition to presenting, students connected with peers and professionals from universities across the country, building relationships and exchanging ideas that will continue to inform their development as educators. While in Washington, D.C., members also explored the nation’s capital, gaining cultural experiences that complemented the conference’s professional learning opportunities.

The experience reflects Indiana State University’s continued commitment to preparing future educators through meaningful engagement, leadership opportunities, and partnerships that strengthen schools and communities.
