Indiana State University Board of Trustees President Michael J. Alley has announced the members of the Presidential Search Committee charged with leading the search for the institution’s 11th president.
"I'm very pleased with the outstanding group that has agreed to assist with this critical search. It includes a broad representation from the many interests that the University impacts and is reflective of the open and inclusive process we wish to maintain during this search,†said Alley.
The search committee will be assisted by the search consultant firm, R. William Funk & Associates. The firm’s selection was approved by the Board of
Trustees at its Sept. 28 meeting.
Trustee Ron Carpenter will chair the committee. Other members are:
- Brooks LaPlante, trustee
- David Campbell, chair, ISU Foundation Board
- Mary McGuire, president, ISU Alumni Association Board
- David Malooley, associate professor of electronics and computer technology
- Betsy Frank, professor of nursing
- Mary Howard-Hamilton, professor of educational leadership, administration and foundations
- Anthony Rathburn, associate professor of geology
- Arthur Halpern, professor of chemistry
- Kelly Hall, chair, ISU Support Staff Council
- A.J. Patton, president, Student Government Association
- Kevin Burke, mayor of Terre Haute
- Brad Balch, dean, ISU College of Education
- Jack Maynard, provost and vice president for academic affairs
- John Beacon, vice president for enrollment management, marketing and communications
Trustee Alley and Melony Sacopulos, university counsel and secretary of the university, will serve as ex-officio members.
The committee’s first meeting will take place October 18 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the State Room of Tirey Hall. Bill Funk, from the search consultant firm, will also be present.
The new president will succeed Lloyd W. Benjamin III, who announced his intentions earlier this year to step down as president at the end of his current contract on June 30, 2008.
