Research: Adding weight to toys may help improve children's fitness

ISU student to present research at national conference

Maria Thaker, a doctoral student in ISU's department of ecology and organismal biology, is one of only 15 students from around the country awarded travel grants to present research at the national conference of the Society for Behavioral Neuroendocrinology. Thaker's research focuses on the reproductive behavior of male tree lizards in response to the risk of predators.

Two ISU grads named to Federal positions

Indiana State University graduates Patrick Walsh and John Ray Correll have been named to key positions in the Federal government. Walsh, a 1968 graduate from Terre Haute, is the new director of legal training for the Department of Homeland Security. Correll, a 1976 graduate, is President George W. Bush's nominee as director of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement.

Terrie E. Troxel to oversee ISU's Gongaware Center

Terrie E. Troxel, an experienced insurance educator, researcher and trade association executive, will oversee Indiana State University's Gongaware Center for Insurance Management Development. He also will serve in a faculty role for the College of Business's nationally recognized insurance and risk management program.
