Indiana State University is preparing to welcome alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the Terre Haute community for its annual Homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 26, 2024. This year’s theme, 100 Years of the Blue and White Parade, marks a century of tradition and Sycamore pride, with a full slate of events that highlight the spirit and history of Indiana State.
Indiana State President Mike Godard shared, "Homecoming is one of the most meaningful times of the year at Indiana State University—a celebration of our history, cherished memories, and the incredible Sycamore spirit that unites us as one community. As we come together for the 100th Blue and White Parade, the football game, and various exciting events, we are excited to welcome our alumni, friends, and families back home. This week highlights the strength, dedication, and pride of the Sycamore family, and I’m honored to be part of it. I look forward to connecting with many of our Indiana State alumni."
The festivities begin at 9:00 AM with the Homecoming Parade in downtown Terre Haute. In celebration of the parade’s 100th anniversary, student organizations, local schools, and community groups will showcase their school spirit and creativity with colorful floats, lively performances, and spirited banners. The Blue and White Parade, one of the most beloved traditions at Indiana State, promises to be one of the largest and most memorable to date.
From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Indiana State University Alumni Association will host its annual Alumni Association Tailgate at Memorial Stadium. University alumni and friends are invited to reconnect over food, games, and entertainment before the Homecoming Football Game. This tailgate is a key opportunity for alumni to celebrate Sycamore pride and foster lifelong connections with their alma mater.
At 1:00 PM, the Sycamores will take the field at Memorial Stadium to face Southern Illinois University in the highly anticipated Homecoming Football Game. Sycamore fans are encouraged to fill the stands and show their support by wearing blue.
Homecoming at Indiana State is more than just one day of celebration. In the week leading up to October 26, students will have the opportunity to participate in various events designed to promote school spirit and community engagement. Activities include the Bleed Blue Blood Drive, Sycamore Sync Talent Contest, a pep rally, the Black Alumni Networking Panel, Trike Derby, and NPHC Stroll Off.
Vice President for Student Affairs Michele Soliz highlighted the importance of student involvement, saying, “Homecoming is a time for our current students to build connections and create memories that will last a lifetime. The weeklong events leading up to the big day are about fostering school pride, building community, and engaging with fellow Sycamores. From the Sync/Sessions to the Trike Race, each event allows students to feel the energy and excitement that makes Indiana State a special place. It’s an incredible time to be part of this vibrant campus community.”
Director of Athletics Nathan Christensen added, “Homecoming is a great way for our students, alumni, donors, and community to connect with each other and to celebrate the university. All our athletic programs feel the energy that each person can bring, and we look forward to a great football environment at Memorial Stadium.”
Homecoming is one of the most anticipated events of the year at Indiana State. It brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the broader community to celebrate tradition, unity, and Sycamore pride.
