Indiana State University is proud to announce that its partnership with the Million Meal Movement has surpassed the milestone of packing over 500,000 meals. This achievement places Indiana State among an elite group of four organizations, including Pacers Sports Entertainment, Corteva Agriscience, and Clif Bar & Co., who have also reached this remarkable level of community service.

Indiana State University began collaborating with the Million Meal Movement in April 2018 during a Spring Donaghy Day event. Since then, the Indiana State community has consistently demonstrated its commitment to addressing food insecurity in Terre Haute, the Wabash Valley, and across Indiana through semi-annual Million Meal Movement packing events. This long-term dedication has made Indiana State University the first college or university to surpass the half-million meal mark.

Nancy Rogers, Vice President of University Engagement at Indiana State, shared, “Our partnership with the Million Meal Movement has brought our campus together and contributed to the well-being of those in our community. Community service is a cornerstone here at Indiana State University, and we are grateful to everyone who has volunteered their time and effort over the years.

President Mike Godard accepted the award on behalf of Indiana State University during the Donaghy Day kick-off in the Hulman Center on Monday. Donaghy Day is an annual day of community volunteering, during which students, faculty, and staff participate in various service projects. The event also introduces new students to Indiana State’s strong culture of service and community involvement.

“We are honored to be recognized for our efforts in fighting hunger and making a tangible impact in Terre Haute, Wabash Valley, and Indiana,” said President Godard. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty, and staff.”

Shane Scarlett, General Manager of Million Meal Movement and Indiana State alum (Scott College of Business, 2000), shared, “Fighting hunger in Indiana is at the core of our mission, and witnessing my alma mater achieve the remarkable milestone of packing over 500,000 meals is incredibly powerful. The direct impact this effort has on our local community is profound. It’s inspiring to see how our collective efforts can make such a significant difference. This achievement motivates us to continue our work and encourages others to join the fight against food insecurity.”
