Indiana State University proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Alyse Jordan as Executive Director of Library Services and University Librarian of Indiana State University’s Cunningham Memorial Library.

Indiana State University proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Alyse Jordan as Executive Director of Library Services and University Librarian of Indiana State University’s Cunningham Memorial Library.

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Christopher Olsen shared, “I am so excited to welcome our new Executive Director of Library Services and University Librarian, Dr. Alyse Jordan. She comes to Indiana State with a wealth of experience and demonstrated leadership. The Cunningham Memorial Library is a critical part of our campus as a hub of academic resources, a central location for our students to meet and study, and a place that helps our Sycamores be lifelong learners. I know everyone will welcome Dr. Jordan to Indiana State; we are excited to see how the library will advance and continue to help students succeed under her leadership.”

Dr. Jordan brings decades of experience in leadership, research, and education, including roles as a librarian at several institutions. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Master of Science in Library and Information Studies, and Master of Arts in Religion from Florida State University and her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. 

Her decorated career includes positions such as Associate Librarian at Arizona State University, Distance and Instructional Librarian at Nova Southeastern University, Head of Research, Instruction, and outreach Services, Assistant Librarian at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and most recently, Head of the Research, Engagement, and Learning Department at Lamar University.       

“I am excited to partner with campus stakeholders to develop programs, services, and information literacy workshops that prioritize our students' needs,” Dr. Jordan said.

Dr. Jordan’s work has been published in several publications, including The Journal of Academic Librarianship and the Encyclopedia of African American History.
