Arrest made in ISU shooting

Less than 24 hours after a student was shot and wounded on the Indiana State University campus, a suspect is in custody.

Indiana State University police have made an arrest in connection with Saturday\'s shooting at Lincoln Quad residence hall.

Calvin McCauley, 21, an Indiana State student from Indianapolis, was arrested today on a preliminary charge of attempted murder, university police Chief Joe Newport announced. The arrest stems from the shooting and wounding of a 20-year-old student, also from Indianapolis.

Investigators determined that McCauley and the shooting victim were acquainted and had spent time together on Saturday prior to the shooting. The victim underwent surgery today at a Terre Haute hospital for the removal of a bullet lodged in his buttocks. He is expected to make a full recovery.

McCauley is scheduled to make a preliminary appearance in a Vigo County court on Monday.
