Indiana State University\'s Community School of the Arts will host an opening reception from 4-6 p.m. Friday (May 10) in the Hulman Memorial Student Union Gallery Lounge. The exhibition \"Mud Musings\" consists of sculpture created by participants in the spring adult Ceramics l and ll classes.

Taught by Kira Kalondy, assistant professor of ceramics at Indiana State, the goal of these classes was to teach students the fundamentals of working with clay as an artistic medium. Students used methods on and off the potter\'s wheel to create and design vessels and sculptures.

Participants had the opportunity to work with hand building techniques such as coil building, slab building and mold making, some of which were used in combination with wheel thrown forms. During the course, students learned how to manipulate clay, and gained an understanding of clay body formulation, slip and glaze chemistry, glazing and kiln firing.Participating in the exhibition are local and regional art educators and artists: Pamela Anshutz, Angela Arehart, April Badger, Penny Burley, Cathleen Hogan, Beth Hoke, Larry Jones, Craig Ketner, Kara Kish, Roberta Marietta, Katherine McLean, Judy Ohmit, Karen Page, Jean Testa-Davis, Connie Turner and Cathy Warner.

The show is on exhibit through May 17 and is free. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
